What These Talks Offer

Age-appropriate, practical talks that help children build good online habits from the start. We focus on rules, routines and real-life examples that kids understand

Ages 4 - 7

First Steps Online

  • Establish clear usage levels and family internet rules at home, including simple time limits.

  • No social media, very controlled gaming, with a strict rules‑based culture that parents can enforce consistently.

  • Explain that kids this age don’t yet have the critical thinking skills to be online alone and always need an adult nearby.

  • Help children recognise that scary or realistic violence online can upset them and what to do if that happens.

Ages 9-12

Ages 8 -10
  • Ages 8–10: Social Media Starters & Safer Surfing
What “appropriate surfing” looks like when parents are not supervising every click.
  • First social platforms: Snapchat, TikTok, WhatsApp, Instagram – what they are and why they matter.
  • “Friends, not Followers”: building real friendships, not chasing likes, views or big networks.
  • Privacy settings basics, why they matter, and how to lock things down.
  • Kindness online, how to avoid or deal with cyberbullying, and when to ask adults for help.
  • Gaming: firm rules (not loose guidelines) for chatting, in‑game purchases and time spent online.
