Young people define the interactive entertainment environments they inhabit, gaming, chat to streaming and video. Safer Internet Day 2026 notes the importance of young people in making the internet a safer place, whether they’re gaming, creating content, or engaging with their friends and followers.

Safer Internet Day puts young people at the centre of a better internet, addressing how the internet can be used better. And to effect real change in online groups where bullying behaviours develop.

The History of

Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day is a worldwide initiative whose goal is to make the Internet a better and safer place for everyone. Observed in February, what started out as a campaign to raise awareness about Internet safety that started about 10 years ago in Europe, it is now celebrated in over a 100 countries worldwide.=

Safer Internet Day was originally started in 2004 by InSafe – a European network of Awareness Centres promoting safer and better usage of Internet. However, it quickly spread out from Europe and became a worldwide initiative. In 2012, it would gain official recognition in the United States with a joint agreement between the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the European Commission. Today, it’s celebrated in over 100 different countries.

Internet Safety for Schools, Colleges & Businesses

Safer Internet Day (SID) is organised by the joint Insafe-INHOPE network, as part of an effort by the European Commission, to educate children and kids worldwide into using the internet safely.

It’s a great opportunity for everyone – School, College, Business’s and Government to reform Phone and Internet overuse.

We guide people to a safer internet. It’s time to talk about Tech & The Internet.

Safer Internet Day – It’s not just about the kids

We think more emphasis ought to be given to Adults however governments worldwide are afraid to challenge large Tech e.g. Microsoft, Facebook, Google and this list includes a small company too, Snapchat. Google enjoys according to various accounts up to 97% of the search market. It’s unhealthy for an organisation to exist on this scale.

Many adults just logon onto the net and go from there without thinking much about it, unaware of the real risks placing our wellbeing, money, family’s in peril. Near 70% of Phone, laptop users use no protection online at all and use NO privacy settings at all. Time to change that, we think. Same as the tobacco, alcohol campaigns of 60 years ago.

Teachers

Teachers want less and less to do with all the issues caused by social media and phones in general.

No phone dinners
Look at me when speaking to me, not your phone
I will take your phone off the bill, phone ring the company, and switch the phone off for a week.

Find Me

The greatest feature almost no one uses. Use it. See where everyone is, your mum, spouse, and all your kids.
Finally, Tweens and Tens think phone is private, and you’re not allowed to look at my Snapchat or WhatsApp.
Yes, you can. You are responsible. The Police can not speak to your kids, but they can convict them
